My Profession– Career Day at Széchenyi István Hungarian Language Primary School

On 25 March, we held a special career day at the Széchenyi István Hungarian Teaching Language Primary School in Felsőszeli, with the participation of 51 students. The aim of the event was to help the 7th, 8th and 9th grade students to choose their future careers and to facilitate the decision making process.

During the morning, the students participated in small group sessions where we helped them to formulate their strengths, aspirations and goals through different games and situational exercises. The aim of the sessions was to help the students to become more aware of their own abilities and to make more informed choices for their future.

The afternoon programme made the day even more exciting, as the students had the opportunity to meet representatives of several professions in the Living Library. Professionals such as entrepreneurs, computer scientists, programmers, singers, teachers and make-up artists answered questions from young people. Interested students were thus able to get up-to-date information on career opportunities directly from professionals. In parallel with the Living Library, a variety of thematic stands helped students to better navigate the maze of career choices. These stands presented a wide range of career areas and self-awareness aspects in an interactive way through practical exercises, helping students to explore their own interests and skills. Seven schools from the area were represented at the Student Stand, where students could get the latest information on the different further education opportunities and specialisations on offer.

During the afternoon, parents also had the opportunity to talk to professionals and learn about further help and guidance available for their children.

We would like to thank all the volunteers, Living Books and the representatives of the participating schools for their enthusiastic and valuable contribution.

Career guidance

In January, Pázmány Péter Gymnasium hosted a career day titled "What Will My Profession Be?"

In January 2025, Pázmány Péter Gymnasium hosted a career day titled "What Will My Profession Be?" which has received several professional awards and recognitions over the years. The event began with small group sessions where students explored their strengths, followed by a vibrant "festival atmosphere" in the gymnasium.

Students had the opportunity to visit the Living Library, where they could meet representatives of various professions they found interesting, ask questions, and gain a more realistic view of those careers. The more creative students could engage in activities at the Creative Stand, while others had the chance to create their own CVs and participate in a simulated job interview. Individual career counseling was also available for students who were uncertain about their future path.

For the more adventurous, there was the Career Path Rope Course, where students could experience their own life journey with their eyes closed. Meanwhile, students could ask technical questions at the Info Desk, play the "Study Smart!" board game to prepare for university, and even take photos with a diploma and cap.
